Fuel pricing and petroleum markets are complex. From 2000 to 2006, CPPI kept Canadians informed by funding FuelFacts, a biweekly report published jointly by MJ Ervin & Associates and Purvin & Gertz Inc. and which included global historical price data.

In 2006, Natural Resources Canada established the Office of Petroleum Price Information (OPPI), whose mandate is to provide Canadians information about petroleum prices and products. OPPI publishes Fuel Focus, a biweekly report featuring a national analysis of petroleum product prices, trends and factors influencing the Canadian market. This analysis is based on public and internal government sources. Occasionally, relevant events from across Canada or noteworthy developments from the petroleum sector are featured.
